Eco-BEST-friendly wedding in the Dominican Republic

Simple ways to go green but stay spectacular

Choose an eco-friendly, green wedding in Punta Cana!

Here’s how:

We all know this: getting married is literally one of the most important days in your life!
You plan and plan, thinking of every single detail so that it all turns out perfect.

Your loved ones will come to witness and celebrate your love, you will all share food, drinks, you will dance and have the time of your lives.

But what happens after that?

Unfortunately at weddings we see a lot of disposal of plastic beverage bottles, single-use cups, straws, plastic bags, balloons, confetti, sparklers…

Food is also getting thrown out (you’d be surprised just how much is left-over) flowers, decor and other used items are also bound for the trash.

All of this waste will definitely have a negative impact on the environment.

We’d like to share with you how just by implementing a few simple ideas you will manage to reduce waste and still have the beautiful destination wedding of you dreams.

Choose local and natural items for decoration!

The natural beauty of the Dominican Republic is the perfect backdrop and gives you endless possibilities for unique decor.

Instead of using artificial decor materials, imagine the positive impact you can make by simply deciding to go with, let’s say,  pineapple or coconut centerpieces.

If you’re not much into fruit for decoration, you can always replace them with potted plants, for example cute and stylish succulents.

Combining them with simple lanterns, geometric vases or just letting them be in their pot will give you a natural and extraordinary decoration alternative.

Use lanterns and candles as much as you can!

Any venue in the Caribbean looks amazing when decorated with lanterns and candles.

Depending on the style, lanterns come in different shapes and colors and complete any setup perfectly.

Besides being excellent decoration items, lanterns and candles offer a great opportunity to save electricity and therefore help the environment.

Go with alternative options for cups, straws and confetti!

If your wedding is on the beach or by a pool, it is smart to avoid using glassware because of safety reasons.

This leaves you with some creative ways to NOT use plastic.

How about some coconuts for cocktails?

They come in their natural look or you can choose to engrave your names and wedding date, thus making them an awesome prop for photos!
They can really help you rock a green wedding in Punta Cana!

You can also use bamboo straws to complete the look of your very exotic and original drink holders.

Another way you can make a positive difference is by replacing confetti and sparklers altogether.
Instead of using these harmful options you can choose to have a much more environmental-friendly wedding toss.

Biodegradable confetti made of leaves, dried rose petals or bird seeds are just a few of the alternatives you can go with.

They look beautiful and protect the planet – it’s a win-win!

Hopefully our blog post helped you get insight on some useful alternatives for a more environmental-friendly wedding.

It would be our pleasure to help you plan and implement these ideas for a green, eco-friendly destination wedding in the Dominican Republic!
